Marie Antoinette Art Piece

Spring 2026

Along with the Marie Antoinette Museum Exhibition (see below), the members of my Advanced Visual Communication Design course and I were tasked with creating an art piece to submit to the exhibition art competition. My creation ended up winning 3rd place and was put on display in the gallery.

Marie Antoinette Museum Exhibition

Spring 2026

In May 2026, the World Languages department at James Madison University hosted an International Women in French conference. The orchestrator of the event, a French professor at the university, collects Marie Antoinette themed items; books, magazine ads, trinkets, you name it. In my Advanced Visual Communication Design course, we were tasked with creating a museum exhibition to display the items in a thematic and cohesive manner. The exhibit was called “Marie Antoinette: Pop Culture Icon” and meant to demonstrate the way Marie Antoinette has been perceive by society and the ways different perspectives about her are represented.

My Initial Rough Draft Design

Completed Display Case

Our display was titled “Let Them Judge.” We wanted to portray the polar opposite perceptions of Marie Antoinette and her role in the French Revolution. Some depictions show her as an innocent victim, while others demonstrate her as heartless and cruel. To learn more about the exhibit as a whole, check out the exhibit description, or read my interview in the Breeze, the student-run newspaper at JMU!
